Albatross (North Berkeley)

A pub. An old fashioned traditional pub. That is the first impression one gets upon entering this classic Berkeley bar. Darts, chess, table games and reference books to assist in convivial discussions are all available from the bartender. Plenty of room to sit, chat, read, think and of course drink. They have a full bar, 13 taps and an extensive bottle list. While they do not specialize in elite or hard to find West Coast beers, they may offer some.  The draft lineup is supported by an ample selection of English, Belgian and German beers in bottles. They only have popcorn, a modest pizza snack and the like to munch on, but you are welcome to bring in food from any of the nearby eateries.

Extras: Game nights and sometimes live jazz or other flavors of music. They are a short walk from Lanesplitter Pizza and Pub, with more local craft brews on tap and on cask, for a little contrast. Also, on your way to or from BART, you can stop by Ledgers Liquors — the East Bay’s premier bottled beer store.
