Steep Brew (16th St SF)
Steep Brew is a cafe and tap room downstairs from — but attached to — the Whole Foods Market in the Potrero Hill neighborhood. They offer 15 taps and a cask, plus wine and a light food menu. There is also a well curated bottle list available. What may not be immediately obvious is that you can purchase any bottle of beer (or wine) from their large collection in the grocery store and bring it to the cafe to have it opened for a small corkage fee.
Steep Brew has a weeknight happy hour. They feature small local breweries and schedule special events with brewers.
Extras: They are 2 blocks from Anchor Brewery so if you have planned ahead and reserved a tour, Steep Brew makes a great stop before and/or after. Also, they open at 8:00 am as a coffee and tea bar. This is the third “taps at a grocery store” model created by Whole Foods in Northern California.

Steep Brew is slightly beyond the one mile limit we chose for our recommended walks, so unless you prefer the exercise, grab the MUNI bus or call a cab. Exit BART and go to the southwest corner of 16th at Mission Street to the bus stop for the 22. Take the 22 bus about a mile east on 16th. It will turn right and then left onto 17th Street. Get off at 17th and De Haro Street. Walk back 1 block on 17th to the corner of Rhode Island Street for Steep Brew.
