The free Kaiser Permanente shuttle from the MacArthur BART station to the Oakland Kaiser Permanente Medical Center makes it even easier. It runs every 15 minutes until 9 pm and stops a short way away.

March 9th, 2007 at 5:05 pm This is a great site! I have been doing a little coverage of similar issues on the N Judah line in SF (which connects with bart at all the downtown stations!) but this is inspiring me to do more…umm..research! Yeah that’s it!
March 9th, 2007 at 8:28 pm Thanks, Greg!Research is a good thing. Potable and portable.Cheers,Steve
March 10th, 2007 at 3:26 pm Also in Berkeley is Bear’s Lair Brewpub, located about 4 blocks east of the Berkeley BART station at 2475 Bancroft Way at Telegraph Avenue in Lower Sproul Plaza (across from the Zellerbach Hall performance space) on the UC Berkeley campus. They offer many of the same beers as Jupiter.

March 11th, 2007 at 12:40 am Thanks again, Ed. Checked to be sure it’s no more than a mile, and and got a little over one half mile, so it belongs for sure.
March 13th, 2007 at 4:00 pm Steve and Gail Ann-Met you at City Beer on Sunday. Nice website! A few possible additions:Lafayette Station:Bo’s Barbecue

phone: (925) 283-7133
– good barbecue and excellent bottled beer selection
– almost a mile away, but an easy walkWalnut Creek station:Stadium Pub.
1420 Lincoln Ave (at Main)
Walnut Creek, CA 94596
(925) 256-7302
– only two blocks from Pyramid so worth stopping by to see what’s on tap (often a tasty beer from Black Diamond in addition to several other good micros)Downtown Berkeley:Raleigh’s2438 Telegraph Ave
Berkeley, California, 94704
phone: (510) 848-8652
– nice selection of craft beer (19) on draft and a pleasant beer garden
March 14th, 2007 at 3:52 pm Let’s see … 43 BART stations X 99 bottles of beer on the wall = a lot of beer. Great site here — hoping Steve and Gail will take on research assistants in their pursuit of Knowledge and Good Beer.(Nice shout-out for S&G in the Contra Costa Times last week: http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/living/food/16850633.htm)
March 14th, 2007 at 5:51 pm Thanks Alexis! assistance welcome.Russ, those look great. I can’t wait to try them out.
May 1st, 2007 at 2:15 pm City Beer on 8th and folsom is a short(ish) walk down from Civic Center Bart
Small place bursting with beer. Couple taps, but mostly bottles. And bottles. And more bottles.

May 2nd, 2007 at 12:57 am Fraggle,We agree. This is one of our favorite spots. The best thing about their great collection of bottled beer is that you can buy one bottle and open it in the store for a small “corkage” fee. Great way to try beers you’re not familiar with before buying more. No other place we know of allows this. The owner is also very knowledgeable about the beer he carries and can steer you where you want to go.
Cheers,
Steve
May 17th, 2007 at 9:30 am Anchor Brewery is an easy BART/Muni trip, with tours at 1PM daily (M-F), and post-tour tasting is among the best payoffs in beerdom. Tours must be reserved in advance.http://www.anchorbrewing.com/about_us/tourinfo.htmhint: Check the Giants schedule for a midweek 4PM game, as it’s a strait shot on Muni from the brewery to the ball park, and you’ll be in your seat by the anthem.
May 19th, 2007 at 6:31 pm > Anchor Brewery is an easy BART/Muni trip, with tours at 1PM daily (M-F)Thanks, Russ. You inspired me to put that page together today .
May 20th, 2007 at 2:16 pm Sudwerk , German-style brewpub, is 0.8 miles from the Davis Amtrak station.(Well according to Google maps that is!). I know its not Bay Area, however it is available by mass transit from the Bay Area. Thanks and I love this site! I will be be bookmarking it for future-ahem- “research”.
June 11th, 2007 at 4:39 pm Another method to make those distances of more than 2 shoes a little shorter is to bring a bike on BART! with bikes, feet and BART, your crawlin just got exponentially more complicated.
June 13th, 2007 at 1:37 pm Hey soo guess what… my first name is Bart and my last name is Beer…. Bart Beer…. when I saw this website I was cracking up
June 15th, 2007 at 2:34 pm Great site….It is very useful.I think you should try to post the places that have happy hour too. I love happy hour.
June 17th, 2007 at 10:36 am This is a good tripGo from the Uptown in SF at 17th and capp a block from the 16th st Bart to the 19th st Bart in Oakland and go to the Uptown about a block away at 19th and Telegraph. The bars are not owned by the same people.Do not go to the Long Branch Saloon on Washington St. in San Leandro, its a short three or four block walk that is in no way worth the effort, unless of course you like Bud and… well, natives of San Leandro.
June 28th, 2007 at 7:43 pm Starry Plough is 2 blocks East of Ashby BART, up Prince St. They have a good selection, lots of regulars neighborhood folk.
