Cellarmaker Brewery is a compact ten-barrel production operation with an attractive tasting room bar. They offer an ever-changing array of beers, with an emphasis on fresh, exotic hops and sometimes on barrel aged beers, to enjoy on premise or to go in growlers. (They have lovely growlers, but will fill other growlers if the branding is obscured by tape.) There is an enormous TV screen, but in general, only local games of interest are shown. You can order or carry in food from local eateries. There may be a food truck outside during special events.
Extras: Cellarmaker is nearby City Beer Store bottle shop and tasting room. Cross Howard St. and cut directly down little Rausch Street. Walk one block and turn right on Folsom St. where City Beer will be the third storefront on your right. You can walk back to BART on 8th when you’re ready. There are nearby restaurants on Folsom.
1150 Howard Street (between 7th and 8th Streets) • San Francisco • 415-863-3940
Exit BART through the exit labeled B2. Walk down 8th Street, (you could walk down 7th, but you may find 8th less daunting, especially in the evening). Just take 8th St. southeast from Market Street (into SOMA, the South of Market neighborhood.) Turn left off 8th onto Howard and look for the former garage at 1150, opposite the end of little Raucsh Street across Howard.
