Hopwater Distribution opened in a long-vacant building in the Lower Nob Hill neighborhood. It’s a large space (by San Francisco standards) with a long bar and plenty of tables arranged front, back and in the mezzanine.

The beer lineup, served from 30 taps and a firkin features a wide variety of styles mostly from California breweries.  Hop Water exteriorThe food, under the direction of Bruce Paton, best known as The Beer Chef, ranges from charcuterie and cheese plates to soups, salads, sliders and fries. The menu will expand as the operation settles in but will remain casual. All food and drinks are ordered at the bar. Drinks are served there and food delivered to your table.

There are just two TV’s and the background music is kept to a level that encourages conversation.

Extras: Mikkeller Bar makes a convenient short side trip on your way to or from Hopwater.
