Local Brewing is a brewery and tap room with sandwiches and light snacks. They pour only Local’s beers except for special events. It’s a relaxed modern neighborhood pub with tables and bar seating. The brewery is in prominent view from the bar area, separated only by a small chain. Often the webcam on their website will be turned on during the day and you can watch the brewers at work.
To help patrons home in on their preferred beer styles, they have developed a
“Beer Curator” which ranks beers for bitterness, alcohol and complexity on 1-10 scale and encourages patrons to track their own preferences.
Extras: During baseball season, this is a good pre- and/or post-game stop. For Peninsula commuters, Local is very close to the CalTrain station. Public House, 21st Amendment, Black Hammer and Steep Brew (SOMA) are all within easy walking distance for a nice South Of Market crawl.

Exit the BART station on the south side of Market Street. Walk southwest (away from the distant pointy Ferry Building tower) to 5th Street. Turn left. Continue down 5th Street six long blocks past Brannan Street. Go to Bluxome Street, cross it and turn left. Local Brewery and Beer Bar will be on the right.
(An alternate strategy is to take MUNI or CalTrain to the nearby CalTrain station and walk a shorter distance from there.)
