Black Hammer is an attractive brewery tap room, featuring both malt-forward beers brewed in the German and English traditions and contemporary American styles. Sometimes one of the beers is live-infused with coffee, hops or other ingredients as it is being served through a “randal” device. 
The colorful space is festooned with Burning Man-inspired cartoon murals, sculptural lighting fixtures and surrealist paintings. Along with the visual delights, high numbers of outlets for chargers, free wifi, comfy furniture and the “acoustically optimized” sound system take care of all the supporting senses for the aroma and flavor of fresh beer.
Kids, dogs and outside food are welcome.

The walking distance is about the same from Montgomery or Powell, so you can take your choice. From Montgomery BART, exit the station and find the corner of 2nd Street, which runs southeast from Market Street. Walk down 2nd Street to Bryant Street, and turn right. Follow Bryant until you cross 3rd, then look for Black Hammer opposite where Zoe Street comes in.
