47 Hills Brewing Co (San Bruno)

47 Hills Brewing is an attractive brewery taproom situated in a roomy warehouse in an industrial area of South San Francisco, just off the Caltrain tracks. From the pleasant outdoor patio beergarden you can watch trains and planes pass by. If you are at SFO to meet a traveller by car or by BART, you may like knowing that this is the closest brewery — in case you want to whisk your guest over for a first fresh California craft beer.  47 Hills is currently new (Spring of 2017) and still filling their taps by adding their own brews to a handful of select guest taps. Bring your own taped-over or un-branded growler to take beers away.  Soon food will be served, but in the meantime you can bring your own, order pizza delivered or look to see when a food truck is lined up.

Live music is a possibility at this venue.  There are two TVs positioned for the sports-inclined. The walk has an industrial vibe and after dark it can feel empty, but according to local cops this is not a high crime area.

Extras: Nearby in the Tanforan shopping center parking lot, on the side furthest from the BART station, you will find a little island of history, featuring an old statue of  the great horse Sea Biscuit, who raced here when Tanforan was a premier thoroughbred track.

Trim some steps off the google map walking route: At the signal near the corner of the garage, cross Huntington Avenue. Go left for a few yards then turn right on Tanforan Ave. Walk to the end and turn left on Dollar Ave. Follow Dollar and it will curve to the left. Cross to the right, then left cross onto South Linden St. to continue to 47 Hills. (Or simply turn left around the corner onto South Linden. If so, you will have to jay walk to cross S. Linden at the brewery).  Take the walkway on the right side of the building around to the taproom entrance in the back.
