Fort Point Beer Company (Embarcadero )

Fort Point Beer finally has an easy answer to the oft-asked question, “Where can I try your beers?” Since it opened in 2014, the brewery,Fort Point Taproom in the Presidio, has not been open to visitors.

The new outdoor taproom offers six of its beers along with hot dogs and soft pretzels, or you can carry in other enticing food from Ferry Building shops. You can buy six-packs of Fort Point beers to take away and you can “borrow” a growler by leaving a deposit. You can return it later (in good condition) and get your money back or keep it for refills. They will also fill other breweries’ growlers. The taproom is outside the building, facing the City.

Extras: A Saturday farmers’ market, with plenty of gourmet food options inside the hall and out; plus many possible boat rides, including to two excellent breweries, Marin Brewing  and Faction Brewing! Or take a walk along the bayfront to the south, stopping at the cool historical markers to learn about San Francisco’s early history. The bay side of the Ferry Building is also a great place to view the animated light installation on the Bay Bridge at night.
